Just a little update!

Hi all,

Just an update about what we've been up to lately!

It's starting to get quite cold now in the mornings and at night, we are waking up in the minus degrees now!

I have finally finished tidying up around the verandah so it's much nicer now.

Before and After

Some exciting news, Darcy bought a new car. Here are a few pictures:
Darcy being shown what all the buttons do.

We visited CostCo today and came across 6Lt bottles of Vodka for $450 each!

Darcy went for a hike up the longest corridor to get to the toilet at the shopping centre.

That pretty much sums up what we have been up to lately!

Until next time,

Alice :)

A couple of photos of our vegie garden and before and after of the garden around the verandah.

Hi Everyone,

Sorry it has been a while since we last updated, not much has been happening the last few weeks.
We are all settled into the house and Darcy is busy with work.
I have just started a vegie garden (planting carrots, snow peas and herbs) and a few potted flowers. I also found a free bike in our street and cleaned it up and works fine, so I can finally ride on the tracks and explore the area a bit better.

Tonight Darcy and I went and watched the fireworks over lake Burley Griffin for Skyfire 2012, an event that's on each year, i'm not sure what the occasion is but it was fun.

Bye for now,

Alice

Hi everyone!

We have had a very busy week but we are finally in our house and settling in. All of our belongings from storage arrived late on Monday so we spent the rest of the day and night unpacking boxes and moving furniture. We now have a million empty boxes, plastic bags and packaging paper left over.
While unpacking we noticed we have too much of a few things, we have about 30 mugs in our cupboard and a heap of storage containers. We have a nice kitchen but there isn't really enough storage places.

We spent last weekend spending up on a tv, a washing machine, a tv unit and a fridge. We managed to get good deals on all of them (I got my haggle on) so we were pretty happy with that!

While the house is good and what we were looking for, we have run into a few problems. First, the shower is either broken or something isn't working properly. But basically we can't shower because of the lack of water that comes out of it. We've let the agent know but they are being slow in getting the plumber out! Another annoying thing is right outside our bedroom there is a street light so the room isn't exactly dark, but we are getting used to it.

Darcy just got his first pay check and he is pretty happy!

I've been lucky enough to land myself a job at Deakin Veterinary hospital in Deakin, just south of the city. I start on Monday and for the time being I will be working twice a week at the clinic as it is a small place, but i've got to start somewhere. I'm hoping to find another casual job to fill in the extra days, lucky we live only minutes away from a massive Westfield where i've already seen positions advertised.

Darcy and I did our first big shop at Woolworths tonight, we spent over $300 but our fridge, freezer and pantry are well stocked and ready to go.

It's been raining here for the last few days and will continue for the next couple of days, so the weather is pretty miserable and it's rather cold even though it's around 18 degrees. There have been flood warnings but hopefully we won't be affected that much.

I think that's all for now, there are a few pictures below of the house, enjoy!

Update

Hi all,

It's been a while since we updated. We move into our house on Friday and all of our things get delivered on Monday. So this weekend we are shopping for a fridge, washing machine and a tv, lots of money to be spent! I'll take some pictures if the house once we have our furniture :)

Costco!

Today we went and visited Costco. We had to pay a $60 join up fee but we can already tell it'll be worth it. It's incredible, things I never thought you could buy were there. Like this 2.6kg block of chocolate, unbelievable! Most of the products were American, like american cheese (funny yellow/orange colour), peanut butter, frozen vegies, clothing, the list goes on! We didn't buy much today, I think we'll save our buying until we move in!

Hi all,

As Darcy mentioned earlier, we got our cars back (all safe with no new scratches!). Darcy got back to our hotel fine, I on the other hand, with a GPS, took two wrong turns. People here in the ACT have a thing about tailgating, apparently it's a big no no. So I, a poor little Victorian plater, encountered my first incident of being road rage victim on the way back. And what was it? Tailgaiting.

Being Valentines Day, Darcy and I went out for dinner at a lovely Italian place in Manuka we visited last time we were here and loved it. Because of the day, every table was booked for two people and had roses and candles on the tables which was a nice touch.

Today it was such a nice day, we went up to the Black Mountain Tower. Here are a few pics of the tower and the view from the viewing deck.

Sushi Cake anyone?
